Julie Zickefoose: Nature Artist & Writer
In July, 2004, I was invited to contribute my first three-minute commentary to National Public Radio's afternoon news program, All Things Considered. When the call came in, I was standing in the kitchen with a basket full of bright-eyed baby chimney swifts, ready for release, in my arms. As bizarre as it seems to me, people across the country like hearing the latest news from Whipple, Ohio, where the cattle are sensitive, the bullfrogs misbehave, and the hummingbirds all know their names.
